Pinkus Organic Ur Pils

On a recent trip down the block to my local Wino-Mart, I picked up a bottle of Pinkus Organic Ur Pils. The label was endearing and the size was just about what I felt like drinking that night. Straight away I took the bottle home (after paying about 4 dollars more than I feel I should have...) and poured in into my new favorite glass.

Ur Pils is an unfiltered Pilsner beer which pours a dark cloudy golden-orange color with a tightly bubbled off-white head that starts as an inch of rich foam and dissipates to a persistent lacing on the glass. This pilsner smells rich, bready, and a little sour. The flavor is fairly mild, with a light mouthfeel. It tastes a bit sour with a bready-sweetness. There is a slight cedar-like kiss of hops, but very light and in the background. Pinkus Ur Pils is not a strong tasting beer, but refreshing and a little sour with a biscuit-like wheatiness.

This is a beer I could enjoy many of over the course of a night, and at 5.2% abv, I'd be able to keep drinking them too. I could have done with a bit more flavor, but what is there is excellent.

This beer would pair well with homemade biscuits and sawmill sausage gravy and would also accompany "breakfast for dinner" quite well.
