Mountain Dew White Out

Apparently, as I don't really drink much soda these days, Mt.Dew has begun another "Dewmocracy" project, voting in a new flavor of caffeinated goodness.

I have, as yet only been able to procure "White Out", a milky white beverage which touts itself as being a smooth citrus dew.

The smell is very lemony, like crushed up Lemonheads candies, not very natural smelling. There is an undeniably smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel to whiteout and even one gulp produces a considerable amount of phlegm. The flavor is very much like a non-alcoholic Smirnoff Ice, so much so that I find myself looking for a tinge of alcohol that never surfaces. I don't know if I can consider this an ultimately successful soda, as the texture is a bit too slimy and the citrus is not really sharp enough to cut through the sweetness, but I do feel that this entry into Mountain Dew's catalogue is stronger than the three candidates last time around. I look forward to hunting down the other candidates this time around, and I'll keep my ear to the ground for the upcoming Dewmocratic Elections.
