Kiss My Face Deoderant

Deodorant does not seem like the thing to write about at The Connoisseurs; however, at The Connoisseurs we know that it is incredibly important be presentable at all times when facing the public eye and smell is no small factor.  I have been disappointed in deodorants in the past, usually not for their odor protective qualities, but instead for the discoloration they leave on my clothing.  I’ve found that both the white chalky and clear gel types of deodorant leave stains in the underarms of my shirts.  This is, of course, greatly disturbing, not just because of the need to purchase a new shirt, but because it makes me wonder what chemicals are causing this effect.  Do I really want to be putting chemicals on my skin every day that change the color of clothing?  I think not.  So I went on the search for a more natural alternative.  I came upon Kiss My Face brand.  This is the same brand of shaving cream I use and I have been quite happy with the results.  The packaging boasts natural ingredients with the absence of several chemicals identified only by initials whose presence one can only assume will cause disease and death to the human system.

I purchased the unscented variety and started applying the next day.  At first I was very happy with the results; I didn’t encounter any odor problems and the Kiss My Face keeps my clothing colors vibrant and unchanged.  This was during June, which was unseasonably cool in New York City, but I figured with my vigorous schedule and daily sweat baths at the yoga studio that if odor was going to occur it would be there right off the bat.  I was wrong in this assumption.  As July turned warm I began to notice that there was a bit of natural human scent coming from my body.  Interestingly enough the scent would be present for a while and then go away.  Maybe the deodorant is reactive instead of proactive?  I also found that the smell was not as pungent as I would expect if I were wearing nothing at all.  So what are my conclusions?  I am happy about using a natural product that doesn’t harm me or my clothes.  The odor situation is not a huge issue; I’ve asked several friends (whom I count on to be honest with me about these types of things) and they have not noticed any odor, so it may be slightly psychosomatic.  I will continue to use the product until I find a real reason not too.
