Connoisseur Jon’s “Raid-the-fridge” style Carbonara

½ stick butter

1 large onion, diced

4-6 cloves garlic, minced

1 lb. ham, bacon, Canadian bacon, or proscuitto, sliced into ½ inch pieces

2 cups lt. cream

Corn starch and water

Salt and pepper

1 lb. your favorite noodles

So, I was hungry, and so was Liz, but we wanted good food for lunch.  I opened the fridge and started grabbing ingredients, and this is what I got, and it was delicious.

First, melt the butter in a sauce pan and then add the diced onion and the minced garlic, caramelizing until soft and browning slightly.  Then add the pork product.  If the pork product is already cooked, i.e. sandwich ham or proscuitto, just brown it slightly.  If it is bacon, or another raw pork product, cook it until it is done.  Then, add the cream and reduce the heat.  Mix the cornstarch and water into a useable thickening agent in a separate glass and pour it into the cream mixture slowly, a bit at a time, until it is thickened slightly, but not like gravy.  Add salt and pepper to taste.  Then, pour it over your favorite cooked noodles and EAT.  It is so decadent and delicious, and really easy to make!  Bon Appetit!
