Guylian Chocolates

In my Christmas stocking this year was a small box of chocolates from Guylian. I had never had this brand of chocolate from
There were three different styles of chocolate in the box, each having a different percentage of cocoa. From lightest to darkest they were: Asian Dark at 56%, Aztec Gold at 65%, and African Ebony at 70%. All the chocolates are done as solitaires and wrapped accordingly.
The Asian Dark has a semi-sweet quality to it, but also possesses a wonderfully full body. Hints of coffee appear on the side pallet during tasting. The Aztec Gold has a bit more bitterness to it which is expected because of the increase in cocoa. It also has a slight smoky flavor. It is not quite as full in the mouth as the Asian Dark and I believe this to be a flaw. The taste does linger in your mouth longer than the Asian Dark and so, for those of you with chocolate cravings, the Aztec Gold would probably be a better cure. The African Ebony, while containing more cocoa than the others, is not bitter at all. There is an underlying flavor of roasted nuts and coffee beans with maybe just a hint of nutmeg. The finish on this wafer of chocolate is quite long and very satisfying. The African Ebony is definitely my favorite in the box.
