Flour Bakery & Cafe

I hate to say it, but it is rare that I go out to a restaurant in my own neighborhood. This is a mistake, one that I have been attempting to correct ever since discovering my favorite breakfast spot, Mul’s Diner. Heading down the road in the other direction is the Boston Children’s Museum; one block behind the museum is Flour Bakery & Café. Flour is a bakery first and foremost, but has taken to the role of café with gusto.

No matter when you go to Flour, there is going to be a bit of a line, and for good reason, this place has some of the tastiest pastries and sandwiches that I have ever eaten.
Surprisingly, Flour is priced less than you'd think for a trendy artisanal bakery/ café, especially when you consider the quality of the food. Their daily-shifting menu caters to special needs eaters with gluten-free, vegetarian, dairy-free, and vegan items all being available daily.

Come for the delectable sandwiches, all served on artisan bread with delicious ingredients from zesty micro greens, to generous amounts of tangy goat cheese, to melt-in-your-mouth lamb, perfectly seasoned and served as a cold cut,

to roast beef so tender you could eat it with a spoon.

Stay for the sinful disserts like the Fort Point neighborhood-famous sticky buns

and miracles worked with fresh fruit. A man could grow very fat and happy on this food.
Flour also has a very tasty coffee and tea selection served in white paper cups with a full compliment of espresso drinks and tea lattes; I recommend the yerba matte latte.

I also recommend the seltzer with homemade raspberry syrup.
It’s a lesson that bears repeating; eat local. Your neighborhood has hidden gems that you walk by every day, give these nearby establishments the love they deserve, you won’t regret it.
