BRGR

My roommate and I went to a place called BRGR. This upper-end burger joint seeks to blend the fast food industry with the organic and green conscious microcosms. Their 1/3 lb burgers are “carefully sourced”; free of steroids, growth hormones, and antibiotics. They also advertise that all the animals used to make their burgers are raised humanely. But what does a BRGR taste like? Well, it’s pretty good. The meat is definitely of a different quality than you usually get. Their fries were also yummy. Another plus, they have big sign telling you how they cook their meat so that you can request differently if you choose. While the burger was good, it was not great, and here are some reasons why. Everything at BRGR is done ala carte, there are no pre-set combinations. When I first noticed this I thought it was a good thing; it meant I got exactly what I wanted, but then I realized that ala carte is much more expensive than pre-set combinations. To avoid a new mortgage on my home I had to pair down my choices. In addition, BRGR really needs to step up their condiment selection and the fixin’s that come on the burger. Lettuce, tomato, and pickles are great, but what was on my burger could be described as a leaf of lettuce, and small slice of tomato, and pickle (in the singular). After everything is taken into account I would say BRGR is way above any regular fast food chain and worth the extra few dollars, but with the selection to be had in NYC, I would only go there in a pinch.
