Bertolli Frozen Dinners

I am not a big fan of prepared food. In general I like prepare food freshly myself or at least pay a restaurant to do it for me. However, in this busy life there are times when canned or frozen food is necessary due to schedule and finance. When it comes to a choice between canned and frozen I am usually apt to head to the freezer section. It was actually my roommate who introduced me to Bertolli Frozen Dinners. He started raving to me one night about them and eventually made one for me. The Bertolli Shrimp Scampi and Linguine Frozen Dinner is hands down the best frozen food I have ever had. The vegetables tasted fresh, the pasta was al dente, and the sauce delicious. I was completely taken aback when I found I did not have a need to add any garlic; such a rarity in my life. Now, this delicious dinner does not come cheap. I have seen the dinners from anywhere between $7 to $10. This would be reasonable if the meal fed the two people it is supposed too, but really, for anyone with a healthy appetite, this is a meal for one. I have read a review that said the meal actually provided for three adults with moderate appetites, but in opinion this a gross misconception. So basically, in my neighborhood, I can get Chinese or Thai for the same price; however, I have yet to cross the Italian restaurant where I can get good shrimp scampi to go for $10 or less, so maybe it is worth it.

The dinner is also incredibly easy to make. Basically: open bag, put in frying pan, cover, stir half way through, and we’re done. So, in conclusion, I give Bertolli Frozen Dinners two gold stars for deliciousness and simplicity, but one black skull for price.
